Job summary

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading the external stakeholder engagement, coordination and governance activity required to support a major project.

You will provide strategic engagement advice, planning and delivery support to ensure community, regulator, tenant, contractor and external stakeholder engagement is consistent, timely and aligned with project approvals, reputation, social licence and Corporate Affairs objectives. It will help create alignment across stakeholder mapping, engagement plans, contractor communication approvals, CRM and complaint management, community feedback, sentiment tracking, opposition strategies, tenant updates and external publications.

Major Responsibilities

In this role you will lead major project external stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear, coordinated and consistent engagement across project, estate and regulatory activity.

  • Develop and maintain community stakeholder mapping, regulator stakeholder engagement plans, project stage gate engagement plans and contractor engagement plans
  • Manage CRM, complaint management, community feedback and sentiment tracking to support coordinated engagement, reporting and issue management
  • Develop community opposition strategies and coordinate proactive stakeholder responses to emerging issues, reputational risks and engagement sensitivities
  • Coordinate estate tenant major project updates, external publications including newsletters, and consistent messaging across external stakeholder channels
  • Develop and deliver the external stakeholder engagement approach for major projects and regulatory approval processes.
  • Translate project priorities, milestones, impacts and sensitivities into clear engagement priorities and stakeholder actions.
  • Identify emerging stakeholder risks, community concerns and opposition issues, and develop proactive engagement strategies to maintain positive community sentiment for the major project portfolio.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree in communications or similar (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience preferably within the construction industry
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, stakeholder engagement, public relations, planning, community relations or a related discipline; or equivalent senior experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading stakeholder engagement strategies for major projects, regulatory approvals or complex operating environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability, with experience engaging community, regulators, tenants, project teams, contractors, industry groups and government stakeholders.
  • Experience managing CRM, complaint and stakeholder information systems to support accurate reporting, issues management and governance.
  • Capability in preparing engagement materials and external publications, including stakeholder updates, newsletters, briefings, consultation materials and project communications.
  • Understanding of regulatory, safety, probity and risk considerations relevant to stakeholder engagement, project approvals and community consultation.
