Job summary

Commonwealth Bank of Australia is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Web Application (Full Stack) to build, evolve and support customer-facing web applications and digital product services used by investors. You will own end-to-end delivery from React UI to REST APIs built with C#/.NET, in a cloud-native, scalable environment.

This is a senior technical leadership role within CommSec Technology, responsible for building, evolving and supporting customer-facing web applications and digital product services used by investors every day. This is a true full stack engineering role focused on building and supporting customer-facing web applications and digital product services.

You’ll work across the entire stack, from developing React-based user experiences through to designing, building and maintaining REST APIs using C# and .NET.

Success in this role requires strong hands‑on expertise across both front-end and back-end engineering, with the ability to lead technical delivery and make architectural decisions across web applications, services and cloud-based platforms.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

• Have deep full-stack web application development experience across React, TypeScript, C#, .NET and REST APIs, with strong front‑end and back‑end capability.
• Build modern, scalable and high‑performing customer‑facing applications using React and TypeScript.
• Design and develop secure, scalable REST APIs and services using C#/.NET and AWS.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and production support.
• Lead solution design and architecture decisions, balancing scalability, performance, security and reliability.
• Apply engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability and performance optimisation.
• Leverage AWS, Docker and Kubernetes to deliver resilient, cloud‑native applications.
• Partner with product, design and engineering teams to deliver high‑quality technical solutions and customer outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence, standards and continuous improvement across the team.
