Job summary

REA Group is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer in Australia, based in Melbourne or Sydney. You’ll design, plan and deliver high-value AI/ML products at scale, shaping the intelligent core of REA’s platform.

You’ll tackle complex challenges, build reliable systems, and drive ML innovation across teams, delivering impact for millions of users. You’ll lead architecture, collaborate with product and data teams, own the ML lifecycle and mentor engineers, while upholding ethical and compliant

Qualifications

• Experience delivering production AI/ML systems across ML engineering, MLOps and software engineering.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives from discovery to delivery.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills with CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategically important AI/ML initiatives and shape architecture and engineering practices.
• Support engineering leadership in setting technical direction and uplift ML capability.
• Collaborate across product, data and engineering teams to align with commercial priorities.
• Design, build, deploy and operate end-to-end ML products and pipelines.
• Own production ML lifecycle including experimentation, deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to track performance and maintain quality at scale.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering quality and governance.
