Job summary

REA Group in Melbourne or Sydney is seeking a Staff Engineer to shape the AdTech architecture and drive high-impact engineering across large-scale systems.

You will lead technical discovery, own API and data pipeline design, and mentor engineers to sustain technical excellence while delivering business value. The role offers a hybrid work model and strong collaboration across Product, Sales and Ad Operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering across complex systems.
• Experience in AdTech or digital advertising is preferred.
• Expertise in API development, distributed architectures, and cloud platforms.
• Strong focus on reliability, observability, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of REA's advertising technology ecosystem.
• Mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and pair-program.
• Partner with Product, Sales, AdOps and engineers to shape solutions.
• Own production reliability and incident response, with proactive improvements.
