Job summary

Chargefox, Australia’s largest EV charging platform, is seeking a Staff Engineer in Melbourne. You will influence architecture, drive scalable distributed systems, and guide engineering across teams. This senior IC role combines hands-on work with strategic technical leadership in a hybrid Melbourne setting.

You’ll work closely with product and leadership to solve complex challenges, mentor engineers, and ensure reliability and security as the platform scales to meet growing EV adoption.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems.
• Deep experience with Ruby on Rails and AWS, including ECS and CloudFormation.
• Experience across the software development lifecycle and driving architectural decisions.
• Track record of solving complex technical problems and delivering results.
• Ability to mentor engineers and uplift technical capability across teams.
• Experience with product-oriented tech in automotive or EV domains is a plus.

Chargefox is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to help shape the architecture and technical direction of our EV charging platform.

This is a senior individual contributor role where you’ll stay close to the technology while having real influence across engineering.

Working across Ruby/Rails, AWS and distributed systems, you’ll solve complex challenges, guide architectural decisions and mentor engineers as we continue to scale.
