Job summary

XPT Software Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Network Engineer in Sydney to support Optus network transformation and modernization initiatives. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in SRv6, MPLS, IPv6, BGP, ISIS, EVPN and related service provider technologies.

Responsibilities include design, implementation, and optimization of carrier-grade IP/MPLS and SRv6 networks, plus RCA-driven incident resolution and automation using Python, Ansible, YANG, and NETCONF/RESTCONF to drive

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IP/MPLS Service Provider networks.
• Hands-on SRv6, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, ISIS, EVPN/VXLAN, OSPF.
• Experience in carrier-grade backbone networks, transformation and migration programs.
• Ability to provide L3 support and RCA for critical incidents.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of carrier-grade IP/MPLS and SRv6 network solutions, ensuring scalable, resilient, and high-performance service provider infrastructure aligned with network transformation initiatives.
• Provide advanced operational support by troubleshooting complex network issues, driving root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents, and ensuring network stability across technologies including BGP, ISIS, EVPN/VXLAN, IPv4, and IPv6.
• Develop and enhance network automation capabilities using Python, Ansible, YANG, and NETCONF/RESTCONF, while supporting migration activities, configuration management, and continuous improvement of network operations.
