Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Sr. Network Support Engineer to diagnose and resolve complex network issues, onboard regional network capabilities, and improve operational procedures. You will mentor peers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high uptime for customers.

Based in Australia, this role involves on-call rotations and working with satellite-based, gateway, and PoP infrastructure to deliver reliable connectivity.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of technical support experience in network engineering or operations.
• Experience with large-scale network deployments and diagnosing network impacting issues.
• Solid understanding of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and elevate network-related incidents, diagnosing and troubleshooting connectivity, performance, and security issues.
• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions including satellites, gateways, and PoPs.
• Monitor network performance to ensure uptime and efficiency for customers.
• Develop tools and best practices to improve network operations and reliability.
• Manage severity 2/3 tickets while on-call during business hours and weekends.
• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers in diagnosis and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across network, software, and security disciplines.

Key job responsibilities

• Respond to and elevate network-related incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security concerns


• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions, assisting in the monitoring, testing, and reporting of new network infrastructure including satellites, gateway sites, and points of presence


• Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime for customers


• Build and enhance tools, develop best practices, and refine operational procedures to measurably improve network operations


• Manage severity 2 and 3 tickets while attending on-call rotations during business hours and weekends


• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers with network issue diagnosis and operating procedures


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, software, and security engineers

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of technical support experience


• Experience with network engineering for large-scale networks, including diagnosing network impacting issues


• Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts


• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL or related) at an advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby and/or PHP), or experience in SQL Server/MySQL and experience with automation and any version control tools


• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure, or experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery


• Experience with satellite-based telecommunication networking
