Job summary

COLAS Australia is seeking a motivated Supervisor for the Spray Seal team in Rockhampton, QLD. You will lead sealing operations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery of works.

The role requires previous supervisory experience in asphalt or spray sealing, willingness to travel, and strong organisational and leadership skills. A White Card and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership and develop workforce capability.
• Monitor safety, environmental and quality standards; manage incidents.
• Oversee SWMS, risk controls and contractor documentation.
• Prepare quality records, ITPs and project documentation.

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Supervisor to join our Spray Seal team based in Rockhampton, QLD.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead, supervise and control various projects to agreed budgets and programs, ensuring all specifications and quality parameters are achieved in a safe and cost-efficient manner, while fostering the development of blue-collar site personnel through coaching, mentoring and hands-on training.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Lead, supervise and coordinate daily sealing operations, including crew, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Plan and organise works, resources, plant, equipment and material deliveries to meet project schedules.
• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and pre-start activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Ensure all personnel and contractors are appropriately inducted, trained, licensed and compliant with site requirements.
• Provide leadership, coaching and on-site training to develop workforce capability and performance.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with safety, environmental, quality and traffic management requirements.
• Facilitate toolbox meetings, hazard reporting and incident management, ensuring timely escalation where required.
• Review and monitor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), risk controls and contractor documentation.
• Ensure completion and submission of quality records, inspection and test plans (ITPs) and associated project documentation.
• Oversee plant and equipment pre-start inspections, maintenance reporting and safe operation.
• Manage workforce performance, attendance and timesheet approvals in accordance with company procedures.
• Drive productivity through effective utilisation of personnel, materials and equipment while minimising waste and rework.
• Ensure all incidents, injuries, near misses and environmental issues are reported, investigated and addressed promptly.
• Collaborate with Traffic Management personnel to ensure traffic control measures are implemented in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans (TMPs).

Previous supervisory experience in the asphalt or spray sealing industry

Ability to travel & live away from home when required

Exceptional time management and leadership skills

Intermediate Microsoft skills & the ability to utilise a variety of different applications
