St Mary Star of the Sea College is an independent Catholic College for girls, overseen by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan and drawing from the values taught in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. It is located near Wollongong City beach and has outstanding teaching and indoor sport facilities as well as outdoor courts. Role Overview

Reporting to the Sports Coordinator at the college, the primary purpose of this role will be to support the operation of sporting programs and facilities at the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the organisation of College sports carnivals and recreation programs.
  • Take responsibility for the general maintenance of sports equipment, uniforms and facilities.
  • Support Physical Education staff with the set-up and clean-up of classes.
  • Edit and store photographs from sporting events.
  • Keep accurate records of student sport representatives.
  • Manage the weekly in-school sports program.
  • Maintain the College sports notice board.
  • Assist students to develop their fitness, skills and coordination.
  • May be involved in coaching or managing sports teams.
  • Attend school camps, excursions and sports trips.

The Trainee is expected to actively support the school’s ethos with a willingness to assist others and an enthusiastic attitude. A commitment to contributing to a positive and supportive school environment is essential. The position may involve weekend work and travel throughout the year. Applicants must also be able to work before or after school hours as required.

The position is suited to someone with a strong interest in Sport, teaching and/ or coaching. While not essential, desirable qualifications and interests include a Certificate in Fitness Training, a coaching accreditation certificate, a Duke of Ed Certificate, or an interest or ability in sports photography.

Remuneration and Benefits

National Training Wage from: $27,300 – $42,100, plus 12% Superannuation

This role is suitable for recent secondary school leavers.
