Job summary

Optimum Health Solutions in Hobart, TAS is seeking a Speech Pathologist to join our team. The role offers a versatile caseload across adult and paediatric clients, with opportunities to specialise in areas such as dysphagia, AAC, or general communication disorders.

New graduates through to experienced clinicians are welcome, with mentoring and clear pathways into senior or leadership roles. Travel within community settings is part of the caseload.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech Pathology, or currently completing final-year studies.
• SPA eligibility or CPSP status is required or expected.

Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose communication disorders.
• Conduct functional communication assessments.
• Provide speech, language and social communication interventions.
• Assess and manage swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) and contribute to AAC design and implementation.
• Develop, implement and review evidence-based therapy plans.
• Educate parents, caregivers and stakeholders to support care.
• Collaborate with allied health professionals, educators and medical practitioners.
• Deliver services across community, clinic and school settings.

Your caseload here can be shaped around what you want to specialise in - communication disorders, dysphagia, AAC, or a broad adult and paediatric mix - with real input into which of those you do more of. Final-year students, new graduates and experienced Speech Pathologists are all genuinely in scope; new graduates get weekly mentoring and structured supervision from day one, and experienced clinicians get a caseload they can specialise or diversify, with a clear path into senior, leadership or mentoring roles when they're ready for it.

ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS

• Assessment and diagnosis of communication disorders
• Functional communication assessments
• Speech, language and social communication interventions

DYSPHAGIA & AAC

• Assessment and management of swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
• Design, trial and implementation of low and high-tech AAC devices
• Development, implementation and review of evidence-based therapy plans

COLLABORATION & SERVICE DELIVERY

• Parent, caregiver and stakeholder education
• Collaborative care planning with Allied Health professionals, educators and medical practitioners
• Community, clinic and school-based services

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Degree in Speech Pathology, or currently completing final-year studies
• SPA eligibility or Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Current driver's licence and access to a vehicle
• Working With Children Check and National Police Check
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
