Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health, a leading regional hospital in Gippsland, Victoria, is seeking a Speech Pathologist (Grade 2 or Grade 3) to join the team. The role offers full-time or part-time employment with negotiable EFT and a supportive workplace culture.

You will deliver high‑quality assessment, treatment and management across inpatient and outpatient services, provide supervision as appropriate, and contribute to service development within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in speech pathology.
  • Eligibility for Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Specialist skills in at least one of: paediatric feeding and dysphagia, adult dysphagia, laryngectomy management, voice disorders, rehabilitation in inpatient/outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Speech Pathology assessment, treatment and management services as per evidence-based practice.
  • Coordinate and manage clinical services within designated areas for efficient patient care.
  • Provide education, support and clinical supervision to staff, students and Allied Health Assistants.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement and service development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to achieve optimal care outcomes.
  • Contribute to departmental objectives through planning, policy development and professional activities.

Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Speech Pathologist (Grade 2 or Grade 3) to join our growing on a full time or part time. EFT is negotiable with successful candidate.

The Speech Pathology team is seeking a Grade 2 or Grade 3 Speech Pathologist who will be responsible for delivery of clinical speech pathology services to an assigned caseload which aligns with their skills and experiences, and to support the operational requirements of the department. Suitably experienced Grade 1 speech pathologists are encouraged to apply. Full-time or part-time/job sharing will be considered. Please indicate your preferred EFT in your application.

The Speech Pathology department at Latrobe Regional Health provides speech pathology services to a range of eligible inpatient and outpatients at Latrobe Regional Health. Inpatient services serviced by the speech pathology department include emergency and critical care services, inpatient medical and surgical wards, paediatric ward (including Special Care Nursery), rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation and Management units, and mental health units (including residential aged care for residents with complex needs). Outpatient rehabilitation services are provided through Community Rehabilitation Services and Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Services. Specialist outpatient services are provided to adult patients with swallowing or communication disorders (including VFSS clinic and laryngectomy management), children with feeding and/or swallowing concerns, infants assessed in the MDT neurodevelopmental clinic, and patients treated through the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, receiving chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.

The role of the Speech Pathologist (Grade 2 or Grade 3)

  • Coordinate and manage clinical services within designated areas to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Provide education, support and clinical supervision to staff, students and Allied Health Assistants as appropriate.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement, service development and evidence-based practice initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families and external stakeholders to achieve optimal care outcomes.
  • Contribute to departmental objectives through participation in service planning, policy development, education and professional activities.
About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in speech pathology.
  • Eligibility for Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Specialist skills and experience in at least one of the following areas of speech pathology practice:
    • Paediatric feeding and dysphagia management (inpatient, including Special Care Nursery, and/or outpatient settings)
    • Adult dysphagia management, including VFSS competency
    • Laryngectomy management and/or experience managing head and neck cancer
    • Voice disorders
    • Rehabilitation in inpatient and/or outpatient settings (adults or paediatrics)
  • Experience in supervision of speech pathologists, speech pathology students and/or Allied Health Assistants.
