Job summary

Cafs in Ballarat, VIC is seeking a Specialist Disability Practitioner to join the Strengthening & Restoring Families team. The role supports vulnerable families where disability is present, helping children and parents access supports and build family capacity.

You will provide direct support, deliver disability-informed practice, and collaborate with Local Area Coordinators, schools and health providers to coordinate services across the NDIS.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Social Work or related field.
• Experience in the NDIS sector.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people and families.
• Strong understanding of disability supports and NDIS processes.
• Experience providing consultation and collaborative case support.
• Ability to build relationships across disability, health, education and community sectors.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex information clearly.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.

• Provide specialist disability and NDIS consultation to family services practitioners.
• Build practitioner capability through advice and capacity-building activities.
• Collaborate with DFFH disability practice specialists and specialist schools to identify families with complex needs.

Salary: $105,736 to $110,518 plus superannuation

Salary packaging options: Up to $15,900 plus meals and entertainment

Cafs is seeking an experienced and passionate Specialist Disability Practitioner to join our Strengthening & Restoring Families team.

This specialist role provides an exciting opportunity to support vulnerable families where disability is present, helping children, young people and parents access the right supports while building family capacity and participation. You will provide direct support to families, specialist disability consultation to practitioners and contribute to strengthening disability-informed practice across the Central Highlands family services sector.

About the program

The Specialist Disability Practitioner Program supports vulnerable families where disability is present and assists children, young people and parents to access disability supports and participate effectively in the NDIS.

Working across the Central Highlands family services system, the program provides specialist consultation, capacity building and practical support to practitioners and families. The program focuses on strengthening whole-of-family functioning by integrating family services and disability supports, including NDIS, disability advocacy services, specialist schools and mainstream community supports.

About the role

As the Specialist Disability Practitioner, you will:

• Support families to identify disability support needs and navigate the NDIS.
• Assist with NDIS access requests, goal setting, planning and plan review preparation.
• Deliver family-centred support that recognises the strengths, dignity and goals of children and parents with disability.

• Contribute to improved disability-informed practice and coordinated service responses across the region.

About you

You will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications (Diploma and above) in Social Work, Welfare Studies, Family Therapy, Psychology or a related discipline.
• Experience and knowledge working within the NDIS sector.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people and families where disability is present.
• Strong understanding of disability supports, NDIS processes and family-centred practice.
• Experience providing consultation, advocacy and collaborative case support.
• Ability to build productive relationships across disability, health, education and community service sectors.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex information in a clear and practical way.
• Commitment to inclusion, child safety and culturally responsive practice.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.
