Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Yarra Ranges invites applications for an Education Support Class position. The role runs 8.30am to 3.30pm, five days per week, supporting students aged 5–18 with diverse learning needs in a dedicated school setting.

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will coordinate support staff, assist teachers, and contribute to individualized education plans, including health and wellbeing supports and communication access approaches.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and collaborate with staff.
• Ability to work in a team and support colleagues.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Relevant education support knowledge and technical understanding.
• Provide advice to management and staff.

• Experience supporting students with behaviours of concern.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine education support tasks under supervision and direction.
• Coordinate education support staff within the area and assist in program delivery.
• Assist teachers and therapists with planning and student routines.
• Support student health, wellbeing and basic care tasks.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and needs.
• Assist in rostering and coordinating support staff as required.
• Provide medical intervention support under defined conditions.
• Support AUSLAN and braille communications as needed.
