Guide Dogs NSW/ACT in Canberra is seeking an experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join on a permanent full-time basis. You will assess clients with vision impairment, develop personalized O&M plans, and train clients across multiple environments to enhance independence in daily activities.

Applicants with a tertiary Orientation & Mobility qualification and COMS completion are preferred. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate, with a pathway for scholarship and

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Orientation & Mobility and current COMS completion.
• Demonstrated ability to travel regularly by car and by domestic flights.
• Excellent communication with clients, families and teams from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Respond to information requests from people enquiring about services.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, families, colleagues and supervisors.
• Plan and conduct individualised O&M assessments and communicate results to clients and teams.
• Plan effective client-centred Orientation and Mobility programs.
• Train clients in O&M techniques across indoor, residential, outdoor environments.
• Monitor client safety and intervene as needed to prevent risky situations.
• Support client independence and problem solving in varied travel contexts.
