Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect – Directory & Identity to provide architectural leadership across a large, complex ICT environment. This role will play a pivotal part in integrating directory, identity, and tenant services across both private cloud and Microsoft cloud platforms, ensuring cohesion across enterprise environments. You’ll be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining secure and scalable solutions that support organisational needs, including the challenges of recent transformation and restructuring activities. The role will report to a senior leadership position and will involve collaboration across multiple technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction in the design and management of directory, identity, tenant, and application integration solutions.
• Analyse business requirements and system specifications to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
• Deliver innovative solutions to complex technology problems across Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware private cloud, Azure, and applications portfolios.
• Develop and document solution designs, including Active Directory, tenant structures, application integration points, and associated architecture artefacts.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on solution design changes, ensuring systems remain secure, scalable, and fit-for-purpose.
• Engage and consult with stakeholders, business owners, technical teams, and customer groups to ensure the integrity of solutions.
• Maintain oversight during delivery phases, validating implementations against approved designs and program objectives.
• Contribute to transitional architecture planning, mapping current, interim, and target states.

Skills and experience

• Minimum 7+ years’ experience in Active Directory and identity architecture within enterprise or government environments.
• Proven expertise in designing and delivering large-scale AD and Entra ID (Azure AD) solutions.
• Strong knowledge of forests, domains, trusts, replication, OU & GPO design, DNS, PKI, AD FS, and Entra Connect.
• Demonstrated experience in tenant separation, merger, or uplift projects, including cross-tenant collaboration and application integration.
• Proven ability to assess and incorporate application dependencies (authentication, authorisation, service accounts, SQL, line-of-business apps).
• Strong technical documentation and architecture modelling skills.
• Ability to work across multiple teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills in complex ICT environments.
• Experience working within public sector or compliance-focused settings.
• Familiarity with Queensland or Australian Government ICT standards and cyber frameworks.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Identity & Access Administrator, Solutions Architect Expert, Entra/Azure certifications).
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
