Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Software Engineer (Packaged Solutions) in Burwood, NSW to manage, deploy, and support packaged software across enterprise platforms. The role emphasises reliable services, collaboration with architects, vendors, and product teams, and ongoing optimisation of solutions.

You will contribute to platform modernisation, handle on-call support, and work in an environment that blends in-person collaboration at the Burwood Office with agile, DevOps, and ITIL practices.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and deploying enterprise applications, including packaged solutions in Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of application integrations, APIs, scripting, automation, and databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and coordinating with vendors.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability across complex application issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working within Agile, DevOps, and ITIL environments across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, deploy, and support packaged software solutions, ensuring system stability, effective issue resolution, and seamless integration with enterprise platforms and business systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, product teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
  • Drive solution lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, testing, release management, deployment, and ongoing optimisation.
  • Monitor application performance, resolve production issues, and perform root-cause analysis to improve system reliability and user experience.
  • Contribute to platform modernisation initiatives, including the migration of legacy applications to cloud-enabled environments.
  • Participate in a shared on-call support roster, providing critical application support to maintain service availability and operational excellence.
  • The team also comes together in person for activities such as branch all-in days (Location Burwood Office), training sessions, planning workshops and collaborative work.
