Job summary

Meta is seeking an engineering leader for the Horizon Engine in Reality Labs. You will set the direction for core engine systems, own the most challenging components, and mentor engineers to deliver high-performance, portable engine technology.

You will collaborate with partner teams to drive product outcomes, maintain high quality standards, and enable developers across platforms to create immersive experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of software development experience (PhD with 4+ years acceptable).
• Experience with C++ and/or C.
• Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels.

This is an engineering leadership role on the Meta Horizon Engine, the cross-platform native engine powering Meta Horizon experiences.

1. Demonstrated experience leading one or more real-time engine components (e.g. Simulation, Performance, Networking, Audio, Assets) for a AAA engine (Unreal, Frostbite, Unity 3D, or other/proprietary AAA)
2. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
3. Experience building for multiple hardware platforms (e.g. PC, Console, MR/VR, Cloud, mobile)
4. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
5. Proven understanding of 3D math, linear algebra and physics
6. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
7. Experience with performance optimization of real-time applications
8. Experience developing SDKs or shared technology that balances the needs of multiple shipping products

Public Compensation:

$219,000/year to $301,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
