Job summary

Mitti is hiring a SWE II for the Web Platform & Standards team to consolidate frontend codebases into a single monorepo, enabling faster, safer delivery across web surfaces. You will bridge the Web Platform team and product teams migrating code with minimal disruption.

The role emphasizes proficiency in TypeScript/React, building tooling, and improving CI/CD. You will ride AI-assisted refactors and grow into independent platform ownership within the first year.

Qualifications

• Solid working proficiency in TypeScript and React.
• Comfortable reading and changing code they did not write.
• Familiar with how a frontend application gets built and shipped—package management, dependency graphs, CI. Appetite to learn more.
• Willing to script or automate repetitive work rather than do it by hand.
• Prior platform, build tooling or infrastructure experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Migrate frontend codebases into the new monorepo, one team at a time.
• Partner with product teams to land migrations with minimal disruption and plan cutover.
• Build tooling, scripts and docs to make migrations repeatable and scalable.
• Improve day-to-day developer experience of the monorepo (CI times, pipeline reliability, local setup).
• Keep migration progress and blockers visible to engineering managers and product teams.
• Grow into independent ownership of a platform area within the first year.

As a SWE II in the Web Platform & Standards team, you will work on consolidating our frontend codebases into a single monorepo — the foundation for faster, safer and more consistent delivery across every web surface. This role is the connective tissue between the Web Platform team and the product teams whose code is being migrated.

Key responsibilities:

• Migrate frontend codebases into the new monorepo, working through them team by team
• Partner with product teams to land migrations with minimal disruption — learn their code, agree a plan, and stay with them through cutover
• Build the tooling, scripts and documentation that make migration repeatable, so teams can increasingly do it themselves
• Improve the day-to-day developer experience of the monorepo — build and continuous integration times, pipeline reliability, and local setup
• Keep migration progress and blockers visible to engineering managers and product teams
• Grow into independent ownership of a platform area over the first year

Required skills & experience:

Technical skills:

• Solid working proficiency in TypeScript and React, producing clean, tested code without close supervision
• Comfortable reading and changing code they did not write, including in unfamiliar codebases
• Familiar with how a frontend application gets built and shipped — package management, dependency graphs, continuous integration. Basic familiarity is enough; the appetite to learn it properly is what matters
• Willing to script or automate repetitive work rather than grind through it by hand

Prior platform, build tooling or infrastructure experience is not required. We are looking for a capable product engineer who wants to move into platform work.

Behavioural skills:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication. This role succeeds by changing other people’s code, so clear proposals and honest status updates matter more than in a typical delivery role
• Genuinely curious and learns fast; seeks out unfamiliar parts of the stack instead of waiting to be taught
• Comfortable with ambiguity — helps define the migration sequence rather than waiting for a complete brief
• Takes satisfaction from other teams shipping faster, not from personal feature output

AI skills:

• Uses AI coding assistants daily, especially for repetitive refactors across many packages — a core lever for this work
• Uses AI to get up to speed on unfamiliar codebases quickly
• Can sanity-check AI-generated code and knows when not to trust it
