Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Software Engineer for a 12-month temporary opportunity based in Sydney, NSW. The role sits within the SCATS team, a world-leading intelligent traffic management system powering smarter cities across 200+ locations. The position is hybrid, with 50% office time at Sydney CBD and 50% in TfNSW offices.

It runs fixed-term full-time until 30 November 2027. You will design, build, test, and support new and existing technology solutions, contributing to cloud-enabled

Qualifications

• Proven development experience in a similar role.
• Completed a technology focused degree, or demonstrated equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work within a complex operating environment delivering crucial software.
• Capable of working to schedules coordinated across the development team.
• Experience developing desktop applications in C++ is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of traffic systems is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work within an Agile project team contributing to the designing, building, testing, and supporting of new and existing technology solutions.
• Assist the development of high quality, robust and secure software solutions that meet business and customer expectations.
• Assist with on-going software, platform, data and integration analysis.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of products, solutions and processes in a collaborative manner.
• Conduct code reviews and analysis to identify issues and ensure consistency, efficiency and reliability of new software.
