Job summary

Enlighten, part of HII's Mission Technologies division, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex Java software for computer-based systems. Hybrid role with on-site support in Hanover, MD and Columbia, MD as required.

You will collaborate with a talented team, work with modern tools, and stay current with the latest technologies. A strong background in RESTful services, microservices, OOP, and Agile practices is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with modern Java frameworks.
• Experience with RESTful web services and microservices architecture.
• Strong OOP and understanding of agile software lifecycle.
• Experience with Git, Nexus, Maven and Linux command line.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and databases (Postgres/MySQL).
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance within 60 days of employment.

Anticipated Salary Range:$115,199.00-$150,000.00. The salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role's location, expectations, and responsibilities. We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. Will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients. Role is hybird with some on-site support.

• Must have a strong working knowledge and experience developing Java based software capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Security Clearance - A current Secret level U.S. Government security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship required. Can consider candidates with TS level clearance as well.
• At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g., Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Experience in RESTful web services.
• Experience in Microservices architecture.
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Comfortable working on a linux command line.
• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
• Problem solving skills and ability to review information and compile data appropriately as needed.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification will be required in this position within 60 days of employment.
• Must be able to work on customer site in Hanover, MD 1-2 days per week and Enlighten’s Columbia, MD office 1 day per week. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with NiFi, Kafka, AWS Infrastructure, and K8's.
• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
• Experience in SQL databases (e.g., Postgres, MySQL), distributed databases, NoSQL databases.
• Scripting experience is a huge plus.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Youtrack, Github, etc.)
