Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support Uncrewed Aerial Systems in Defence programs within Australia. You will lead software integration, testing and V&V across complex systems, ensuring compliance and risk management while collaborating with Defence stakeholders and engineering teams.

In this role you will provide technical leadership across software activities, drive system lifecycle activities, certification and assurance, and contribute to capability delivery with

Qualifications

• Degree in Software, Electrical or Avionics Engineering.
• Six years’ experience in an engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of software life cycle and processes.
• Experience with software integration in complex systems.
• Knowledge of verification and validation methodologies.
• Ability to review technical documentation and engineering artefacts.
• Experience supporting certification, assurance and compliance activities.
• Ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience in Defence, aviation, aerospace or UAS programs is highly regarded.
• Australian citizenship and NV1 security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on software engineering activities.
• Lead software integration across the system lifecycle.
• Support cyber certification and software assurance requirements.
• Review technical documentation and contractual deliverables for compliance.
• Participate in technical working groups, design reviews and milestones.
• Assess system and software design documentation to support V&V activities.
• Identify, analyse and manage software-related risks.
• Develop and execute software test plans, procedures and reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and trace software requirements.
• Engage with Defence, industry and engineering teams to support capability delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
