Job summary

Adelaide University invites applications for a Software Engineer in the College of Engineering and Information Technology. This full‑time fixed‑term contract runs to 31 March 2028.

You will design, develop and maintain software infrastructure for evaluating advanced computing platforms, with hands‑on work on CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, SoCs/MPSoCs and accelerators. You will build automated benchmarking capabilities and reproducible test environments, addressing SWaP‑C trade‑offs in demanding compute

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong C/C++ and Python software engineering experience for research or production software.
• Proficiency with Linux, source control, CI/CD and automation.
• Experience in performance engineering, benchmarking and systems measurement.
• Knowledge of computer architecture and heterogeneous computing; ability to integrate toolchains and instrumentation.
• Ability to meet milestones and handle sensitive project information; NV1 clearance eligibility and Australian citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software infrastructure for benchmarking and evaluation.
• Build automated benchmarking capabilities, toolchains, data collection and repeatable test environments.
• Work with CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, SoCs/MPSoCs and accelerators in performance-focused contexts.
• Translate research concepts into robust software/hardware test environments.
• Collaborate across research and engineering to support technology assessments.
