Job summary

Buildcorp, an Australian-owned construction company, is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop and support internal web applications. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts and AI specialists to deliver secure, scalable software that improves operations across the business.

You’ll combine solid software engineering fundamentals with modern AI-assisted development practices to accelerate delivery, enhance quality and drive value for projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and supporting web-based applications.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and development best practices.
  • Experience with source control, testing, documentation and code reviews.
  • Ability to work from business requirements and translate them into working solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain internal web applications and business systems.
  • Translate business requirements into reliable, scalable software solutions.
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools and techniques to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Maintain high standards of source control, documentation, testing and code quality.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and key stakeholders to define and deliver solutions.
  • Support the modernisation of internal applications and workflows.
  • Work alongside Buildcorp's AI Lead to align development activities with the broader AI strategy.
  • Contribute to AI-native solutions using Microsoft Azure technologies including Azure Functions and Azure AI services.
  • Support and extend solutions developed through Microsoft Copilot Studio and other low-code platforms.
  • Take successful prototypes and proof-of-concepts through to production-ready solutions.

About the role

In this role, you'll design, develop and support internal web applications that improve the way Buildcorp operates. You'll work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts and AI specialists to deliver secure, scalable and user-focused solutions.

You'll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with modern AI-assisted development practices to accelerate delivery and improve outcomes.

  • Apply AI-assisted development tools and techniques to improve productivity and code quality
  • Maintain high standards of source control, documentation, testing and code quality

About you

You're a capable software engineer who enjoys solving business problems through technology. You're equally comfortable writing quality code, engaging with stakeholders and exploring new tools that improve development outcomes.

Essential experience
  • Experience developing and supporting web-based applications
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and development best practices
  • Experience with source control, testing, documentation and code reviews
  • Ability to work from business requirements and translate them into working solutions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Highly regarded
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Functions or related technologies
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor or similar
  • Exposure to Azure AI services, AI Foundry or AI-powered application development
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and or Copilot Studio
  • Experience delivering internal business systems and enterprise applications
