Job summary

LEAP Dev, part of LEAP Legal Software, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Product team in Sydney. You will work on backend services and web applications, researching and proposing new technologies to build the next generation of products. Hybrid role with flexible arrangements in Sydney.

You’ll design and deliver RESTful APIs, enterprise-grade backend services, and modern frontend components, while collaborating across law and tech experts to streamline client workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend development using C# and .NET.
• 3+ years of experience with React or similar frontend frameworks.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and relational data models.
• Experience with RESTful API integration and event-driven solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions with a strong focus on backend development (≈70%) using C# and .NET, and frontend (≈30%) with React.
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Develop modern, responsive frontend applications using React.
• Apply best practices: agile, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
• Contribute to improving development practices, architecture, tooling, and standards.

We are looking for aSenior Software Engineerto join the Core Product team. Working with us on multiple projects varying from backend services to web applications, you will be someone who can adapt to various technologies and be able to research and come up with solutions independently in an agile environment. You will be confident in proposing new technologies and frameworks to build the next generation of our products.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions with a strong focus onbackend development using C# and .NET (approximately 70%), complemented byfrontend development using React (approximately 30%).
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services, integrations, and event-driven solutions.
• Develop and maintain modern, responsive frontend applications and components using React.
• Apply software engineering best practices and industry standards, including agile methodologies, automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design and implement scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of development practices, architecture, tooling, and engineering standards.

What you’ll bring

• Minimum5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong commercial experience developingbackend applications and services using C# and .NET.
• 3+ years of experience with Reactor similar modern frontend frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and software development principles.
• Demonstrated experience with:
• Design and implementation of RESTful APIs with .NET, preferably .NET 10.
• Design of relational database schemas and data models, preferably with AWS RDS or Amazon Aurora MySQL
• Event-driven solutions, preferably using Amazon SQS, S3 and other AWS Lambda services
• AI-assisted development and tooling, includingMCP servers, structured prompting, and the development of AI tools and skills
• Integration with workspace APIs, preferably Microsoft Graph and Google Gmail APIs
• Server-side document generation and modification using libraries or platforms such asAsposeor similar.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and integration patterns.
• Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in an open and positive

Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:

• Integration withMicrosoft Graph API, including Microsoft 365 services such as Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive, and related APIs.
• Integration withGoogle APIs, particularly Google Workspace services such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive.
• macOS application development, including experience building, integrating, or supporting applications and services on Mac..
• Experience developing integrations across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace ecosystems.
