Job summary

Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) in Brisbane seeks a Software Engineer with extensive experience building custom Linux based systems for embedded products. You will design, implement, and document software for precision hardware used in surveying and civil engineering.

You will maintain and extend existing software, debug in real time, and collaborate with hardware teams under pressure. A Software Engineering degree or equivalent and 5+ years of C/C++ experience are required; knowledge of Linux

Qualifications

• 5+ years current C/C++ experience with above average coding skills.
• Experience building custom Linux based systems for embedded products.
• Experience developing and supporting real-time embedded systems in an embedded Linux environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.

This is an integral role and you will be accountable for:

• Building custom Linux based systems for embedded products.
• Developing and documenting software design and requirements.
• Writing, modifying and debugging software.
• Maintaining and supporting existing software on demand.

Skills & Experience

• Experience building custom Linux based systems for embedded products.
• Experience developing and supporting real-time embedded systems in an embedded Linux environment.
• 5 + years current C/C++ experience with above average coding skills.
• Sound experience in programming real-time applications.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of Linux kernel and device-driver development.
• Knowledge of hardware and low-level development.
