KBR, Inc. in Australia is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Mission Integration team and contribute to cutting-edge software for Defence capabilities. You’ll work alongside engineers and Defence stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle to deliver high-quality applications.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years’ experience, and strong ASP.NET/C#/HTML/JavaScript, SQL Server and T-SQL skills. NV1 Defence Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a software discipline or closely related field.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET, C#, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of OOP and unit testing.
• Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL stored procedures.
• Experience in Agile environments and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software in line with standards and processes.
• Participate in Agile software development activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews).
• Assist with task decomposition, planning and effort estimation.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications.
• Conduct unit, performance, and integration testing.
• Document system and technical aspects.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software processes and practices.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing Mission Integration team and contribute to the development of cutting‑edge software solutions that support critical Defence capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a software professional who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, solving complex technical challenges, and delivering high-quality software that makes a real impact. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, project managers and Defence stakeholders across the full software development lifecycle, helping to build innovative applications that enhance capability outcomes for our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Develop high-quality software in accordance with established engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
• Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Assist with task decomposition, work planning, and effort estimation.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and features.
• Conduct and support unit testing, performance testing, and system integration activities.
• Contribute to system and technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across software engineering processes and practices.
• Represent KBR professionally while adhering to company policies, security requirements, and quality standards.

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Software Engineer or similar role.
• Experience developing applications using: ASP.NET, C#, HTML, JavaScript.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Transact‑SQL, including Stored Procedures.
• Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Experience with Unit Testing methodologies and frameworks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

• Azure DevOps (ADO/TFS)
• Git
• Experience developing in Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience developing using an agile methodology (Agile/Scrum).
• Experience working in a software development environment using the Microsoft software development & test product stack.
• Experience developing applications for Defence networks.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
