Job summary

Transport for NSW in Sydney, NSW, AU seeks a Software Development Manager for a fixed-term full-time role up to 19 months. You will lead a software development team, oversee end-to-end delivery of high-quality software, and establish engineering standards across development, testing and deployment.

Qualifications

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in information technology, software engineering or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams and delivering complex software solutions in large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary software development practices, including Agile delivery, SDLC governance and CI/CD environments.

In this role, you'll:

• Partner with systems engineering, architecture, testing, release, deployment, IT support and business stakeholders to deliver safe, stable and scalable technology solutions.

The team also comes together in person for activities such as branch all-in days (Location Sydney CBD Office), training sessions, planning workshops and collaborative work.

About you

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications in information technology, software engineering or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams and delivering complex software solutions within a large-scale organisational environment.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary software development practices, including Agile delivery, software development life cycle governance and CI/CD environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage technical delivery across complex product ecosystems, balancing competing priorities while maintaining quality, reliability and stakeholder alignment.
• Experience working with Java and/or C++ codebases is highly desirable, with exposure to mission-critical software, traffic management or intelligent transport systems considered advantageous.
