Job summary

BlueScope invites a Software Developer to join the Australian Steel Markets (ASM) Enduroframe team in Mount Waverley, VIC. You will maintain and advance ENDUROCADD®, our CAD/BIM platform used to design light-gauge steel framing systems for buildings and infrastructure.

You will work on graphics-heavy software, contributing to production-ready output from architectural designs. Required: strong C#/C++, C++, and OpenGL/Direct3D skills, CAD/BIM experience, and Agile experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong programming skills in C# and C++, with OpenGL or Direct3D.
• Experience with CAD/BIM software programming (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Experience with version control and Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software supporting engineers, fabricators and builders.
• Collaborate across teams to translate user needs into practical CAD/BIM software features.
• Design to engineering standards and building codes; ensure performance and reliability.
• Document applications and create user guides; provide ongoing maintenance.
• Engage with end users to troubleshoot and refine features.

As a software developer, you’ll play a leading role in maintaining and advancing ENDUROCADD®, our industry-proven Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM) platform used to design and detail light-gauge steel framing systems. You’ll work on software that directly powers the manufacture and construction of complex building structures, trusted by users for its structural accuracy, ease of use, and on-site reliability.

In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of sophisticated graphic models, intuitive user experience, and design automation. You’ll help evolve a platform that seamlessly converts architectural designs into production-ready output, a tool relied on daily to build homes, commercial structures, and major projects around the world.

What Will You Do:

You’ll design, build, and maintain software that directly supports engineers, fabricators, and builders, delivering innovative, reliable, and user-friendly solutions that shape the future of light-gauge steel construction. You’ll also:

• build and maintain software in C#, C++, and OpenGL, delivering clean, efficient, and scalable code, build and maintain software in a CAD based platform using C# and C++ programming languages, delivering clean, efficient, and scalable code
• collaborate across teams and stakeholders to turn user needs and engineering requirements into high-quality, practical solutions
• design to specification in line with engineering standards, and the National Construction Code
• build, test, debug, and review code to ensure performance, accuracy, and reliability in real-world workflows
• engage with end users to troubleshoot issues and translate their challenges into intuitive, impactful software features
• document and support applications, creating clear specifications, user guides, and providing ongoing maintenance

You’re a self-starter driven by impact who thrives on solving complex digital complex models, shaping tools that transform the way buildings are designed and constructed, and seeing your work make a real impact. You’ll bring:

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related experience/qualifications in software development
• strong programming skills in one or more languages (such as C#, C++), and OpenGL or Direct3D libraries, supported by solid 2D/3D mathematical understanding
• exposure to CAD/BIM software with programming experience in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar platforms. Graphics-heavy software like gaming are also suitable
• experience with software development tools, frameworks, and version control, along with familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies
• an ability to work through incomplete/complex information, explore solution options, and make sound, practical decisions
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new concepts.
