Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering support services to women and/or trans and gender diverse people.
• Experience applying trauma-informed and integrated practice principles.
• A commitment to social justice principles and equity in service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with HPLS lawyers to support clients and address needs.
• Refer and assist clients to access housing, treatment, and community services.
• Contribute to research and advocacy addressing systemic issues affecting women in the justice system.

The HPLSWomen’sServiceis a gendered service that provides specialistassistance to women, trans and gender diverse people who are atrisk of being evicted, homeless, and/or facing other barriers to accessing and maintaining safe and stable housing.

Reporting to the Managing Solicitor,theSocial Workerwill work with HPLS Women’s Service lawyers tosupport clients to achieve better outcomes through holistic service delivery. Additionally, you will:

• workwithHPLS solicitors toidentifyand address the support needs of clients.
• refer and support clients to obtainappropriate housing,drugand alcohol treatment, communityservicesand other relevant supports in the community.
• participate in and contribute to research and advocacy to address the systemic issues women face in their interactions with the justice system.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the delivery of support services to women and or trans and gender diversepeople. You will also have:

• experience in trauma-informed service deliveryand integrated practice principles.
• an understanding of the impacts ofdomestic and family violence or sexual assault and/or with homelessness.
• a commitment to social justice principles.
