Job summary

St Pius X Catholic Primary School is seeking a compassionate School Social Worker to support student wellbeing across Pre-K to Year 6. You will work with students, families and staff, delivering counselling, and collaborating with external agencies to strengthen belonging and resilience.

As part of our Catholic ethos, you will apply trauma-informed practice and evidence-based interventions, building partnerships and resources that enhance school-home connections and outcomes for every child.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with students, families and staff to support student wellbeing.
  • Experience delivering evidence-based interventions, including individual and small-group counselling to support students' social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and contemporary wellbeing approaches. Experience with Berry Street Education Model BSEM, URSTRONG and Kimochis is highly regarded.
  • Ability to work within CEWA and St Pius X policies, procedures, guidelines and child safeguarding requirements, including the CEWA Child Safe Framework.
  • Capacity to collaborate with leadership, staff, families and external agencies to develop proactive wellbeing initiatives and positive student outcomes.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships, resilience, emotional regulation, social competence and belonging.
  • Experience creating resources and communications that support student wellbeing and strengthen school-home partnerships.

Position Details

St Pius X Catholic Primary School is a vibrant, single-stream co-educational school catering for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.

We are seeking a compassionate, proactive and highly relational School Social Worker to enhance student wellbeing and support families within our Catholic school community. As an integral member of staff, the successful applicant will work collaboratively with students, families, staff and external agencies to foster wellbeing, strengthen relationships and contribute to a culture of belonging, care and inclusion.

The successful applicant will be a reflective practitioner who demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, maintains high professional and ethical standards, and is committed to supporting the Catholic ethos and mission of St Pius X Catholic Primary School.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this opportunity, potential candidates must be practising Catholics and enthusiastic educators committed to the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.

You must also have

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work or similar
  • Eligibility for membership of AASW
  • Accreditation to Work in a Catholic school or willingness to work towards this
