Job summary

Eastern Health's Renal, Oncology and Endocrinology Specialty Medicine team seeks a Social Worker Grade 2 for a permanent, part-time role (32 hours per week) based at Box Hill Hospital. The successful applicant will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team and support patients through complex care pathways.

You’ll bring tertiary Social Work qualifications and eligibility for AASW membership, 2+ years’ healthcare social work experience, and a patient-centered, communicative approach.

Qualifications

• Must hold tertiary qualifications in Social Work and be eligible for membership of the AASW.
• 2+ years of Social Work experience, ideally in a healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver person-centred, collaborative care.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Join a Renal, Oncology and Endocrinology Specialty Medicine team as Social Worker Grade 2.
• Supervise Grade 1 staff, Allied Health Assistants, and students where appropriate.
• Contribute to development of Social Work services and participate in service improvement and research initiatives.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to support patient care across pathways.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Social Worker to join our Renal, Oncology and Endocrinology Specialty Medicine team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Grade 2 Social Worker looking to further develop within a collaborative and supportive team environment, or for a Grade 1 Social Worker ready to take the next step in their career and grow their clinical skills within a specialty medicine setting.

You’ll also have opportunities to supervise and support Grade 1 staff, Allied Health Assistants, and students, while contributing to the ongoing development of Social Work services alongside senior clinicians. You’ll be encouraged to participate in service improvement and research initiatives led by our Grade 3 and Grade 4 Clinical Leads, helping shape the future of Social Work at Eastern Health.

What you’ll bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the AASW.
• 2+ years of Social Work experience ideally in a healthcare setting
• A passion for delivering person-centered, collaborative, and compassionate care.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience in Renal, Oncology and Endocrinology Specialty Medicine would be advantageous but not essential.
