Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service invites applications for a leadership role in social work across CHHHS. You will guide practice, support complex patient care and advance service excellence in tropical North Queensland.

In this position you will exercise independent clinical judgement, participate in education and research, and contribute to staff development within the Social Work Department.

Responsibilities

• Exercise independent clinical judgement in psychosocial assessments, case management, counselling, grief and loss, adjustment and crisis intervention.
• Participate in professional education and contribute to research and quality improvement in the Cairns Hospital Social Work team.
• Lead staff development through supervision, performance appraisal, and mandatory training.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…

• Exercise independent clinical judgement and more complex decision making in areas such as psychosocial assessments, short and long term case management, counselling, grief and loss, adjustment and crisis intervention in the context of hospital and health social work.
• Actively participate in professional education within the work unit and professional team and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the Cairns Hospital and for the Social Work profession.
• Contribute to staff development within the Social Work Department team through clinical practice supervision of staff and students, performance appraisal, professional development, recruitment and selection and mandatory training.
