Job summary

Seven West Media seeks a motivated social media producer to turn big stories into platform-ready content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and more, across The Nightly, The West and PerthNow. You will plan and produce daily social content, adapt stories for each audience, source, write and publish posts, and produce video content and social cards using Adobe Express in a fast-paced newsroom.

The role requires newsroom experience, strong audience insight, and the ability to work seven days

Qualifications

• A journalism degree and proven experience working in the media industry.
• A strong work ethic and initiative in a fast-paced newsroom.
• High level of literacy and attention to detail with accuracy across platforms.
• Knowledge of how audience needs differ across social platforms.
• Ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
• Willingness to work a seven-day newsroom schedule, including weekends and late shifts.

Responsibilities

We’re on the hunt for a motivated and creative social media producer who understands how to make a story stand out.

Working across The Nightly, The West and PerthNow, you will have a solid understanding of our unique audiences and determine how to ensure our readers get across the content they love. You’ll sit at the intersection of news, storytelling and platform strategy - turning our newsrooms’ biggest stories into content that gets serious traction across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and beyond.

This is a hands‑on production role for someone who has substantial social savvy, understands what makes our audiences stop scrolling, and can move fast when news breaks.

You’ll ideally have newsroom experience and be a voracious consumer of news.

Key responsibilities:

• You’ll work closely with reporters, editors and the digital team to plan and produce daily social content across our mastheads, adapting stories, video and graphics for each platform’s audience and format.
• Source, write and publish posts across multiple social media platforms.
• Utilise social media for both story discovery and promotion.
• Produce engaging video content for digital platforms.
• Support the editors in guiding the content on social media each day.
