Job description

About The Role

Base salary from $140,000 per annum (plus super) - total package to be negotiated with preferred candidate based on skills and experience.

As the SOCI Physical Security Lead, you will lead the delivery of physical security and Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) compliance initiatives across TasNetworks' critical electricity infrastructure, with a particular focus on substation sites. This role exists to strengthen the organisation's security posture by identifying compliance gaps, assessing risks and coordinating the implementation of practical security improvements that meet regulatory requirements while supporting safe and reliable network operations.

Working across a diverse group of internal teams, contractors and subject matter experts, you will provide the structure, direction and oversight required to progress complex security uplift programs from planning through to implementation. Your expertise will help establish sustainable physical security practices, frameworks and processes that support ongoing compliance, operational effectiveness and long-term ownership within the business. This is an opportunity to influence how physical security is managed across critical infrastructure and leave a lasting impact beyond the lifecycle of individual projects.

Responsibilities Also Include
  • Lead the identification, prioritisation and delivery of physical security and SOCI compliance initiatives across critical infrastructure sites.
  • Develop and manage delivery plans, risk registers, reporting frameworks and governance processes to support successful program outcomes.
  • Assess security risks and compliance requirements, ensuring physical security controls are practical, risk-based and aligned with operational and safety needs.
  • Establish and maintain physical security frameworks, standards, procedures, plans and supporting documentation to strengthen compliance and assurance activities.
  • Develop sustainable operating models, processes and ownership arrangements that enable the effective transition of ongoing responsibilities into business-as-usual teams.
About You

You are an experienced security professional who understands how to balance regulatory obligations, operational realities and evolving security risks within critical infrastructure environments. Drawing on your background in physical security, protective security, risk management or a related field, you can translate complex requirements into practical, sustainable solutions that strengthen security outcomes. Whether leading compliance uplift initiatives, remediation programs or broader security improvements, you bring a structured approach and a clear focus on delivery.

Known for your ability to build credibility across diverse stakeholder groups, you work effectively with operational teams, technical specialists and leaders to achieve shared outcomes. You communicate complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand, navigate competing priorities with confidence and take a practical approach to problem-solving. You're someone who sees opportunities for improvement, develops fit-for-purpose security and process plans, and follows through to ensure meaningful and lasting change.

You don't need to check every box, but the ideal candidate will bring:
  • Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Business, Risk, Cyber Security or a related discipline
  • Experience within physical security, critical infrastructure security, protective security, security risk management or a related discipline.
  • A strong understanding of the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) framework and its practical application.
  • Proven capability delivering security uplift, compliance, remediation or improvement programs in complex operational environments.
  • Experience within the electricity, energy, utilities or broader critical infrastructure sectors, with knowledge of operational sites and physical security principles highly regarded.
