Job summary

A regional health service is seeking a Specialist in Emergency Medicine to provide quality clinical care and leadership in Goulburn. Qualifications

  • Skills appropriate for a Senior Medical Practitioner.

We welcome your application for a position in Southern.

Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the state, from Goulburn and Crookwell to the Victorian border, and surrounds the ACT on three sides, a total of 44 537sq kms.

The hospital has a close academic and training partnership with the ANU Rural Clinical School, and a newly opened educational and high-fidelity simulation facility is on the Goulburn Hospital campus, which is regularly used for teaching sessions.

Where you'll be working

Goulburn Base Hospital is in Southern NSW LHD, approximately 2 hours from Sydney (195 kms) and 1 hour from Canberra (90 kms).

Goulburn ED is within new clinical services building which has approximately 100 beds. The ED has a Level 4 role delineation and has 2 resuscitation beds, 6 acute beds (including 2 isolation rooms), and a fast-track area.

What You'll Be Doing

The role of a Specialist in Emergency Medicine is to lead high quality, specialised and safe clinical care to patients in the Emergency Department within the hospital setting.

Selection Criteria
  • Evidence of registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist, Emergency Medicine or Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) with additional advanced qualifications in Emergency Medicine.
  • Demonstrated recency of practice and knowledge, experience, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Emergency Medicine appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for a Senior Medical Practitioner, including modelling a high standard of professional behaviours to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience, understanding and commitment to patient safety and other aspects of clinical governance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
  • Commitment to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, weekend shifts and the on-call roster, and ability to respond on site within a reasonable time frame.
