Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Australia seeks a Senior Manager, Quality Assurance to provide strategic leadership across our Quality organisation, ensuring systems, processes and practices support safe, compliant and high-performing delivery outcomes.

Based in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide, the role requires Baseline Defence Security Clearance or higher and involves guiding quality teams, governance, and continuous improvement to align with customer and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years in Quality Management with leadership of managers or senior professionals.
  • Experience leading multiple quality disciplines in a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, audits, inspections, testing and improvements.
  • Ability to apply quality frameworks to contractual, regulatory and product requirements.
  • Combination of technical authority with strategic leadership and people management.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior functional leadership across quality disciplines and teams.
  • Lead implementation and continuous improvement of quality systems, standards and governance.
  • Ensure quality practices align with objectives, regulatory obligations and product performance.
  • Provide technical authority across QA, audits, inspections, testing and improvements.
  • Oversee assurance activities to meet quality, safety and compliance standards.
  • Analyse quality data to identify trends and risks and drive improvements.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action processes to address issues.
  • Drive consistency of quality practices across functions and product lines.
  • Contribute to quality strategy and enterprise standards.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve reliability, maintainability and delivery.
  • Build capability through coaching and mentoring of managers and specialists.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Quality Assurance to provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and functional direction across our Quality organisation. This role is responsible for ensuring quality systems, processes, and practices are effectively implemented to support safe, reliable, compliant, and high-performing delivery outcomes.

Working across multiple disciplines, product lines, and operational areas, you will provide senior leadership to quality teams while acting as a trusted technical authority in quality assurance, governance, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in strengthening quality capability, driving consistency of practice, and ensuring quality frameworks align with business objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished quality leader who can combine deep technical expertise with people leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence outcomes across a complex organisation.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide.
The successful candidate must hold a Baseline security clearance or higher.
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior functional leadership across quality disciplines, teams, and operational areas to deliver business and customer outcomes.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of quality systems, processes, standards, and governance frameworks.

  • Provide technical authority across quality assurance, audits, inspections, testing, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Oversee assurance activities to ensure products, materials, and processes meet required quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Analyse quality performance data to identify trends, systemic risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action processes to address quality issues and strengthen operational performance.
  • Drive consistency of quality practices across multiple functions, product lines, and operational environments.
  • Contribute to the development of quality strategy, enterprise standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve reliability, maintainability, and delivery outcomes.
  • Build capability across the Quality function through coaching, mentoring, and developing managers and technical specialists.
Essential
  • Undergraduate qualification in Quality, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in Quality Management (typically 12+ years), including demonstrated leadership experience managing managers or senior technical professionals.
  • Proven experience leading multiple quality disciplines, teams, or functional areas within a complex organisation.
  • Strong technical expertise across quality management systems, audits, inspections, testing, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience applying quality frameworks to contractual, regulatory, compliance, and product performance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to combine technical authority with strategic leadership and people management responsibilities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing, and problem‑solving capabilities.
Desirable
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Quality, Engineering, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt accreditation.
  • Experience working within complex, multi‑product, matrixed, or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience contributing to global, enterprise‑wide, or cross‑functional quality strategies and processes.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
