Job summary

INGRITY is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a Sydney-based data transformation initiative. You will design, build and optimise scalable data solutions using Google BigQuery, dbt and SQL, with a strong focus on data modelling and data quality.

Collaboration with data engineers, analysts and stakeholders will be key throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll work on robust data pipelines, model data for analytics, and ensure trusted data for reporting while applying modern engineering

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong expertise in Google BigQuery, SQL development and data warehousing.
• Advanced hands-on experience with dbt, including modelling transformations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformations using Google BigQuery and dbt.
• Build and optimise data models, including dimensional modelling, star schemas and data warehouse structures.
• Develop reusable SQL transformations to support analytics and reporting.
• Implement data quality checks, testing and validation across data pipelines and models.
• Optimise BigQuery performance, query efficiency and cost.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Apply engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD, documentation and automated testing.

Senior Data Engineer – GCP / BigQuery / dbt

The Opportunity

INGRITY is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a data transformation initiative with one of our clients in Sydney.

This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building and optimising scalable data solutions using Google BigQuery, dbt and SQL, with a strong emphasis on data modelling, data quality and engineering best practices.

You’ll work closely with data engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to develop robust data pipelines, transform complex datasets and deliver trusted, high-quality data for analytics and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformations using Google BigQuery and dbt.
• Build and optimise data models, including dimensional modelling, star schemas and data warehouse structures.
• Develop reusable, well-structured SQL transformations to support analytics and reporting.
• Implement data quality checks, testing and validation across data pipelines and models.
• Optimise BigQuery performance, query efficiency and cost.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Apply engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD, documentation and automated testing.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, including hands-on delivery of modern cloud data platforms.
• Strong expertise in Google BigQuery, including SQL development, performance optimisation and data warehousing.
• Advanced hands-on experience with dbt, including developing, testing and maintaining transformation models.
• Strong data modelling experience, particularly dimensional modelling, star schemas and analytical data structures.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience handling complex datasets and transformations.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern ELT/ETL architectures.
• Strong understanding of data quality, governance and engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders.

Highly Desirable

• Python for data engineering and automation.
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Cloud Composer.
• CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
• Experience working in complex enterprise data environments.
