Job summary

Centurion Healthcare in Sydney seeks a Sleep Scientist / Sleep Technologist with 1–3 years' experience to join our national sleep laboratory. You will score and analyse diagnostic studies and help run a daylight lab across our 103 clinics, working closely with respiratory and sleep physicians.

You will produce detailed reports, ensure scoring consistency, manage study workflows, and contribute to quality assurance.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years' experience scoring diagnostic sleep studies.
• Sound knowledge of AASM scoring criteria and sleep standards.
• Proficiency with sleep diagnostic software and scoring platforms.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a qualified Sleep Scientist / Sleep Technologist with 1–3 years’ experience to join our laboratory. This is a daytime role combining the scoring and analysis of diagnostic studies with the day-to-day running and management of a sleep laboratory operating on a national footprint.

You’ll work closely with our respiratory and sleep physicians, producing detailed, reliable study reports that directly inform patient diagnosis and treatment, while taking ownership of the smooth operation of the lab itself. As one of Australia’s largest specialist networks, we’re expanding our diagnostic sleep service, and you’ll be part of that growth. Key Responsibilities

Scoring & analysis

• Score home-based/ambulatory sleep studies in line with current AASM guidelines
• Analyse and interpret respiratory, EEG, cardiac and limb movement data
• Prepare accurate, high-quality study reports for physician review

Laboratory operations & management

• Assist in the day-to-day running of the sleep laboratory, coordinating study workflow across our national footprint
• Manage study scheduling, prioritisation and turnaround to meet reporting timeframes
• Maintain laboratory protocols and standards
• Support consumables, equipment and resource management across the lab
• Review study quality and flag technical issues affecting interpretationEnsure scoring consistency and adherence to laboratory protocols and standards
• Maintain accurate records and documentation within the sleep database and practice management system
• Contribute to quality assurance, inter-scorer reliability and continuous improvement activities

Patient & clinical support

• Liaise with patients regarding study bookings, setup, download of home studies and follow-up as needed
• Support the physician team with study prioritisation, queries and clinical coordination

General

• Maintain and calibrate equipment, escalating faults as needed
• Contribute to the smooth, professional running of the sleep laboratory

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Sleep Science, Physiology, Health Science or a related discipline
• 1–3 years’ experience scoring diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies
• Sound working knowledge of AASM scoring criteria and current sleep diagnostic standards
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Proficiency with sleep diagnostic software and scoring platforms (e.g. Compumedics ProFusion, Natus, Nox, or similar)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team
• A commitment to accuracy, quality and patient care
• Eligibility for or membership of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) / RPSGT or BRPT certification
• Experience with home-based/ambulatory sleep testing
• Familiarity with CPAP therapy setup, data review and troubleshooting
• Some exposure to laboratory coordination or workflow management
• Exposure to respiratory function testing
