Cpapshop in Cairns is seeking a Sleep Apnoea Consultant for a flexible part-time role (~2 days per week). You will educate patients, guide CPAP use, and coordinate care with GPs and sleep specialists to improve health outcomes.

Job description

We are seeking a Sleep Apnoea Consultant to join the team at Cpapshop in Cairns, QLD. This is a part-time position approx. 2 days per week , that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector. As a Sleep Apnoea Consultant, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing expert guidance and support to individuals managing sleep apnoea conditions. This role is crucial in helping patients understand their diagnosis, navigate treatment options, and achieve better health outcomes through education and personalised care recommendations.

Key responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments and consultations with patients presenting with suspected or diagnosed sleep apnoea

Provide detailed education to patients about sleep apnoea, its health implications, and available treatment options

Demonstrate and educate patients on the proper use of CPAP devices and related equipment

Monitor patient progress and compliance with treatment plans, providing ongoing support and troubleshooting

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations

Liaise with healthcare professionals including GPs and sleep specialists to ensure coordinated patient care

Answer patient enquiries regarding sleep apnoea management and equipment functionality

Contribute to a welcoming and professional patient experience at all times

What we're looking for

Experience working in sleep medicine, respiratory care, or medical administration settings is desirable

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain medical concepts in accessible language

Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail in managing patient records and appointments

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a part-time capacity

Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it

Compassion and empathy when working with patients managing chronic health conditions

Experience with healthcare software systems is desirable
