Job summary

Jobtailor in Australia seeks a hands-on Field Supervisor to commission, test, and maintain solar photovoltaic systems while leading field crews. You will oversee contractors, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate client-facing trainings and inspections.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in a related role or an electrical engineering degree, 2 years of supervisory experience, and a Technical School Diploma. NABCEP certification is a plus and 24-hour on-call availability is required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a related position or recent electrical engineering graduate.

• Technical School Diploma; college degree preferred.
• Strong electrical background with proficiency in Windows (Excel/Word).
• Willingness to be on-call 24 hours.
• Ability to work in remote field conditions and manage multiple tasks.
• Familiarity with testing/diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
• NABCEP certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Commission, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and modify solar PV systems.

• Perform field start-up, pre-commissioning, acceptance tests, and customer training.

• Travel as required by regional needs.

Job description

• Perform commissioning, testing, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications of solar photovoltaic systems
• Supervise contractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely maintenance activities
• Respond to customer service calls and automated remote alarm notifications
• Perform field start-up and commissioning functions, including pre-commissioning protocols, acceptance tests, and customer training
• Keep current with product technology through troubleshooting, repairs, and instructing others
• Promote strict adherence to company safety protocols
• Oversee field personnel and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
• Conduct and document training on Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief, and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures
• Train personnel on safety, environmental, and procedural requirements
• Communicate with remote operators
• Coordinate project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing
• Write and enforce work and equipment testing instructions and operating procedures
• Ensure work orders are completed
• Prepare procurement and vendor-service documentation
• Review, complete, submit, and file required documentation and reports
• Communicate cross-functionally to resolve plant issues
• Attend and pass assigned safety, environmental, and other training
• Maintain work areas and site housekeeping to 5S standards
• Travel as required by regional needs
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in a related position, or recent electrical engineering graduate
• 2 years supervisory experience
• Technical School Diploma
• Ability to supervise contractors in the field and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence
• Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, and conduct analysis independently and collaboratively
• Ability to work comfortably in potentially remote field conditions and manage multiple tasks and projects
• Ability to work in difficult customer situations
• Available for 24-hour on-call duty
• Strong electrical background
• Proven computer skills in a Windows environment, including Excel and Word
• Ability to use Maximo
• Familiarity with electronic control systems preferred
• Familiarity with testing and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
• College degree preferred
• NABCEP certification a plus
