Job summary

Fluence is seeking a Site Manager to lead the construction of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Australia. You will drive on-site delivery, manage risks, and ensure safety, quality and schedule meet contract requirements across one or more projects.

You will report to the Senior Construction Manager and coordinate with project teams, clients and subcontractors, delivering on-time and on-budget outcomes in a dynamic energy storage environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing High Voltage Electrical Projects over $200 million.
  • Experience with Tier 1 organisations; exposure to AGL projects is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and leadership to grow a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in construction planning and interface with site teams.
  • Coordinate on-site activities for BESS installation, earth works, mechanical and cabling works.
  • Collaborate with commissioning to handover construction activities.
  • Provide daily feedback on progress and weekly reports to project leadership.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are followed and promoted.
  • Familiarise with Fluence BESS equipment manuals and procedures.
  • Meet contractual obligations and communicate with stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • Oversee site staff and subcontractors to maintain safety, quality and schedule.
  • Evaluate construction methods for cost-effectiveness and implement improvements.
  • Respond to on-site conditions, delays or emergencies; provide site coverage as needed.

Job Description

An industry leading energy storage technology company requires a driven, passionate Site Manager who is committed to transform the way we power our world and accelerate a sustainable energy future and help deliver one of the largest portfolios of contracted energy storage in the world. The role of the Site Manager is to lead the construction of BESS Projects to achieve successful completion meeting or exceeding the expectations of all stakeholders. The Site Manager is responsible for achieving on-time and on-budget delivery, reducing project risks, avoiding incidents or accidents, and proactively working on-site on one or more projects. This position reports directly to Fluence Snr Construction Manager/Director of Construction. This position is a 12 month contract.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance in construction planning to the site team, interfacing and working with the project site teams to minimize risk and maximize business performance.
  • Co-ordinate all on-site construction activities related to BESS installation, including planning; Bulk earthworks; Detailed Civil works; Inground earthing; Mechanical Installation of equipment and electrical cabling works and pre-commissioning works and punch list close-out.
  • Work closely with Fluence commissioning team to ensure a smooth handover of construction to commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with the FLUENCE Project Manager and provide daily feedback on Construction progress and weekly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards and procedures. Actively lead the site teams to promote and develop a strong Health and Safety culture from project conception to final completion.
  • Study all internal product documentation to familiarise with Fluence's core BESS equipment including all manuals and internal procedures..
  • Work with the client teams and meet contractual obligations, communicate regularly with internal project, safety, engineering, commissioning and business administration personnel.
  • Oversee FLUENCE site staff, Principal contractors, sub-contractors to ensure safety, quality and schedule are met.
  • Evaluate construction methods to determine cost-effectiveness of plans, implementing changes to ensure this.
  • Respond to specific conditions on site, e.g. schedule delays, emergencies or other problems.
  • Be available to work a flexible roster and provide site coverage as required by the project.
Requirements
  • Experience managing similar High Voltage Electrical Projects in excess $200million. Previous BESS experience or Power station, Switchyard, or Transmission Line projects connecting to Australian grid.
  • Proven experience working with Tier 1 organisations is essential, with prior exposure to AGL projects considered an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including, MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other basic computer skills.
  • Excellent Proficient verbal and written communication skills are required for this role.
  • The successful applicant should be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to problem-solve with proven practical and engineered solutions
