Job summary

Green by Nature is seeking an experienced Turf Maintenance Technician to maintain and present elite sports surfaces across three premier venues: Tramway Oval, Kippax Lake and Heffron Park in Sydney, NSW. You will ensure surfaces are safe, visually outstanding and competition-ready year-round, through hands‑on maintenance and proactive turf care.

You will lead routine turf management, operate turf equipment, monitor health, and contribute to renovation and sustainability initiatives,

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Sports Turf Management is required.
• Experience in sports turf maintenance or greenkeeping is essential.
• Strong understanding of turfgrass species, growth habits, maintenance practices, irrigation systems and sports field preparation.
• Ability to operate and maintain a range of turf machinery including ride‑on mowers, aerators and sprayers.

Responsibilities

• Perform mowing, aeration, fertilisation, topdressing, line marking and irrigation management to maintain high‑quality playing surfaces.
• Monitor turf health and address pests, diseases, weeds, compaction, and wear with cultural and chemical management.
• Execute seasonal renovation, recovery and improvement programs to optimize turf performance across all sites.
• Implement sustainable turf management practices including water conservation and IPM strategies.
• Operate, maintain and care for specialised turf equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with internal teams to plan maintenance schedules and priorities across multiple venues.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and clients, delivering exceptional service.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement and presentation of high‑performance sports fields.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Turf Maintenance Technician to join our team maintaining three high-profile sporting precincts: Tramway Oval, Kippax Lake and Heffron Park.

In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the presentation, performance and ongoing maintenance of high‑performance sporting fields that support a range of community and competitive sporting activities. Working across these premier venues, you will play a key role in ensuring playing surfaces remain safe, visually outstanding and competition‑ready throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine sports turf maintenance activities including mowing, aeration, fertilisation, topdressing, line marking, and irrigation management to maintain exceptional playing surfaces.


• Monitor turf health and proactively identify and address issues relating to pests, diseases, weeds, compaction, and wear through effective cultural and chemical management practices.


• Execute seasonal renovation, recovery, and improvement programs to ensure optimal turf performance across all sites.


• Implement sustainable turf management practices, including water conservation initiatives and integrated pest management strategies.


• Operate, maintain, and care for specialised turf equipment and machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operation at all times.


• Work collaboratively with internal teams to plan maintenance schedules, prioritise workloads, and deliver consistently high standards across multiple venues.


• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and clients, providing expert advice and ensuring expectations are exceeded through exceptional service delivery.


• Contribute to the ongoing improvement and presentation of high‑performance sports fields, ensuring they are maintained to the highest industry standards.

About You

You have successfully completed a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and possess recent experience in sports turf maintenance, turf management, greenkeeping or a similar environment.

You are passionate about producing elite‑quality playing surfaces and take pride in delivering consistently high standards of turf presentation and performance.

You have a strong understanding of turfgrass species, growth habits, maintenance practices, irrigation systems and sports field preparation. You are confident operating and maintaining a range of turf machinery and equipment, including ride‑on mowers, aerators, sprayers and other specialised turf maintenance equipment.

You hold a current driver's licence and White Card (or are willing to obtain one).
