Job summary

Green by Nature is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead turf and horticulture services across the Northern Beaches, Mosman and North Sydney. You will manage approximately 12 Greenkeepers and drive high standards of presentation and service delivery.

You will oversee day-to-day performance, coach staff, liaise with clients and ensure safety and quality across multiple sites. The role combines technical turf expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Sports Turf Management or Horticulture.
• Strong knowledge of turf maintenance and renovation practices.
• Experience leading turf or horticultural maintenance operations.
• Proven leadership of operational teams.
• Ability to plan maintenance programs while maintaining high presentation standards.
• Strong client and stakeholder relationship management skills.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple sites, deadlines and competing priorities.
• Commitment to safety and maintaining a strong safety culture.
• Current full driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee turf maintenance programs including mowing, irrigation, fertilisation, aeration, topdressing, renovations and pest and disease management.
• Manage presentation and ongoing improvement of sporting fields, turf areas, gardens and landscapes.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 12 Greenkeepers, Team Leaders, Apprentices and Groundspeople.
• Deliver on-site training in turf maintenance techniques and safe equipment operation.
• Build relationships with clients and respond promptly to requests and issues.
• Perform regular site inspections and monthly audits for quality, safety and contract compliance.
• Identify opportunities for improvements and additional works across the portfolio.
• Prepare client quotes within agreed timeframes.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and site performance.
• Ensure employees are inducted, trained and supported.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient contract delivery.

Contract Manager – Sports Turf & Horticulture

Are you an experienced Sports Turf or Horticultural professional ready to take ownership of a diverse and high-profile portfolio?

Green by Nature is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead the delivery of turf and horticultural services across the Northern Beaches, Mosman and North Sydney areas.

This is an excellent opportunity to manage a portfolio that includes NRL-standard playing surfaces, first-grade cricket grounds, Shute Shield rugby fields and community sporting facilities, while leading and developing a team of approximately 12 Greenkeepers, Team Leaders, Apprentices and Groundspeople.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will combine your technical turf knowledge with strong people leadership and client management skills to ensure our sites consistently meet high standards of presentation, performance and service delivery.

What You'll Do

As Contract Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day performance of your portfolio, including:

• Oversee turf maintenance programs including mowing, irrigation, fertilisation, aeration, topdressing, renovations and pest and disease management
• Manage the presentation and ongoing improvement of sporting fields, turf areas, gardens and surrounding landscapes
• Lead, support and develop a team of approximately 12 Greenkeepers, Team Leaders, Apprentices and Groundspeople
• Deliver practical onsite training in turf maintenance techniques, daily maintenance activities and safe equipment operation
• Build strong relationships with clients and respond promptly to requests, feedback and service issues
• Conduct regular site inspections and monthly audits to maintain quality, safety and contract compliance
• Identify opportunities for improvements and additional works across the portfolio
• Prepare client quotes within agreed timeframes
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, works and site performance
• Ensure employees are appropriately inducted, trained and supported
• Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure contracts are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical turf or horticultural knowledge with confident leadership and client management skills.

To be successful, you will bring:

• A qualification in Sports Turf Management or Horticulture
• Strong technical knowledge of turf maintenance and renovation practices
• Previous experience managing sporting fields, turf or horticultural maintenance operations
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing operational teams
• The ability to plan and oversee maintenance programs while maintaining consistently high presentation standards
• Strong client and stakeholder relationship management skills
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving abilities
• The ability to manage multiple sites, competing priorities and deadlines
• A positive attitude towards working safely and a commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture
• A current full driver's licence

Experience working with high-performance or competition-level sporting surfaces will be highly regarded.
