Job summary

Beon Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Site Manager for our Utilities and infrastructure team, based at the Melbourne CBD head office on an initial 12-month maximum-term contract with extension potential.

Reporting to the Construction Management team, you will lead site-based construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and commercial outcomes are achieved across Melbourne and beyond.

Qualifications

  • Current trade or tertiary qualification in electrical, building or construction management (required).
  • Detailed knowledge of construction practices in electrical distribution, sub-transmission, transmission and/or infrastructure industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical and civil construction methodologies and their integration into project planning.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and OH&S standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective site leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical).
  • Plan all site construction activities, identify risks, and document required plant, equipment and materials.
  • Direct construction on site with accountability for safety, environment, quality, and schedule.
  • Maintain a safe working culture and ensure health & safety policies are followed.
  • Ensure contractors comply with scope, quality, and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide labour and resource estimates for bids and tenders.

About the role

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join our growing Utilities and infrastructure team, based out of our Melbourne CBD head office on an initial 12-month maximum-term contract, with a strong opportunity for extension and potential permanency.

Reporting to the Construction Management team, you will be responsible for managing and leading the delivery of site-based construction projects for Beon Energy Solutions, ensuring key safety, quality, schedule, and commercial outcomes are achieved.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience delivering construction projects in a site-based environment, together with strong leadership, stakeholder management, planning, communication, and project coordination skills. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and contribute to major infrastructure projects across Melbourne and beyond.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide effective site leadership and management of multidisciplinary teams of employees and contractors (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) to ensure that the agreed outcomes of the projects are met.
  • Plan all site construction activities, identify risks and opportunities, assess and document plant, equipment services and materials required to complete the works
  • Provide effective management and direction of construction on site having overall accountability for the project site, resources, health safety, environment, and quality of work
  • Implement a safe working culture at all levels and ensure all health & safety policies, procedures and practices are clearly communicated and always followed
  • Ensure all contractors and contractor activities comply with scope, quality, legislative, regulatory, and contractual obligations
  • Provide estimates of labour, plant and other resources required for construction as inputs to bids and tenders.

What you’ll need from day one
  • Current trade or tertiary qualification in electrical, building or construction management (required)
  • Detailed knowledge of the construction practices particularly as they relate to the electrical distribution, sub-transmission, transmission and/or infrastructure industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical and civil construction methodologies and the integration of this into the planning phases of a project
  • Knowledge and experience in the concepts and principles of subcontractor management
  • Detailed knowledge of technical standards, construction practices and OH&S
  • Proven ability to apply construction management principles, preferably in an electrical distribution, sub-transmission, transmission and/or infrastructure environment.
  • Significant experience with substation construction.
  • Longstanding commitment to ensuring safety standards and procedures are communicated and followed throughout the project lifecycle projects.
