Job description

Operating from our Murarrie office, you will lead the day-to-day site delivery of complex commercial insurance repair and restoration projects across Brisbane and broader South East Queensland. Blending office-based planning and reporting with regular on-site leadership, you will work closely with the Project Team to coordinate contractors and keep works safe, compliant and on program. Current and upcoming projects span high-rise roof replacements, structural fire reinstatements and other complex restoration works across industrial and commercial properties, local government buildings, accommodation facilities and sporting venues.

This opportunity would suit an established Building Supervisor, Site Supervisor or Estimator with strong building and construction knowledge. You will initially join as a Site Manager, applying your existing experience while becoming familiar with Johns Lyng Group systems, processes and the delivery of Commercial Large Loss projects. Towards the end of the six-month probation period, your progression will be reviewed, with the intention of moving into a Project Management role within the first 12 months, subject to performance and suitability.

Supported by experienced leaders, you will strengthen your commercial project delivery capability while taking ownership of safety, quality and performance across assigned sites. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who leads confidently, maintains high standards and wants to establish a long-term career with Johns Lyng Group.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and drive project programs established by the Project Team, monitoring progress and escalating risks or potential delays as required

Coordinate contractors, work sequencing and day-to-day activities across assigned project sites

Ensure contractors comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, maintaining a strong site safety culture and promptly addressing or escalating concerns

Monitor workmanship and quality, identifying and mitigating defects and non-compliant works early

Ensure all trade components are delivered in accordance with project scopes, approved documentation and applicable building requirements

Provide accurate daily written progress reports and photographs, including photographic dilapidation inspections before works commence and updated records as projects progress

Assess contractor performance and provide considered feedback to support future project allocation and procurement decisions

The Company

Positioned as one of Australia’s leading insurance builders, Johns Lyng Group delivers high-quality insurance building and restoration services nationwide. Our reputation is built on quality, reliability and exceptional customer outcomes, supported by a high-performance culture. As part of the broader Johns Lyng Group, this role sits within our Commercial Large Loss division, operating at the most complex end of the Group’s insurance-building portfolio. The division specialises in significant commercial repair and restoration projects arising from major insurance claims, where technical expertise, disciplined project delivery and strong stakeholder relationships are central to helping customers, businesses and communities recover when they need us most.

What’s on Offer

A competitive salary package aligned with your experience and qualifications

The option to choose between a fully maintained company vehicle or vehicle allowance

Ongoing professional development and broader career opportunities within a national organisation

Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Access to exclusive employee benefits, including health, finance and superannuation offers and a range of retail discounts through our partner network

Could This Be You?

We are looking for an experienced construction professional who can confidently lead site delivery, coordinate contractors and maintain high standards across complex commercial projects. To be successful in this role, you will need:

A current QBCC trade licence in Carpentry or Roofing, or an applicable QBCC Supervisor Licence, with suitable Low Rise or Medium Rise licence holders prioritised

Strong construction knowledge across building methodology, sequencing, workmanship and quality requirements

The ability to interpret project scopes and approved documentation and ensure works meet applicable requirements

A strong understanding of WHS obligations, contractor compliance and site risk management

Confidence identifying defects, non-compliant works and potential delivery risks before they affect project outcomes

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear progress reports and comprehensive photographic records

Established relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders across commercial construction or insurance building would be highly regarded

A current driver’s licence and First Aid Certificate
