Job summary

Wamarra, Aboriginal‑owned civil and landscaping contractor, seeks a Leading Hand for a project near Whyalla. You will coordinate site activities, lead crews and ensure on‑time, safe delivery of earthworks, pavements, drainage and concrete works on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Leading Hand or stepped-up Operator in civil construction (on-site leadership).
• Strong background in earthworks, drainage, pavements and concrete works.
• Ability to read plans, manage workflows and coordinate multiple work fronts.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and ability to drive productivity on site.
• Solid understanding of safety, quality and commercial requirements.

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating site crews, plant and subcontractors.
• Driving daily productivity and ensuring works are delivered to program.
• Implementing and managing 3-week lookaheads and short-term planning.
• Monitoring and reporting on site progress, productivity and delays.
• Ensuring safety processes are followed including pre-starts, SWMS and risk assessments.
• Maintaining quality control, including ITPs, inspections and defect management.
• Mentoring and developing operators and labourers on site.
• Working with Supervisors, Engineers and clients to deliver strong project outcomes.
