Job summary

John Holland is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to earthworks planning on major Australian infrastructure projects. You will assist in developing project plans, perform site surveys, and ensure the earthworks align with regulatory standards and project specs.

Collaboration with project managers, architects and engineers will be essential to integrate earthworks with other elements. You will oversee on-site activities, maintain safety and quality standards, and manage documentation, costs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Experience delivering Australian civil or rail projects.
• Experience with Tier 1 or 2 contractors is preferred.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Aconex preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the project plan including earthworks strategy and scheduling.
• Conduct or oversee site surveys to determine topography and geology.
• Review earthworks design for compliance with regulations and project specs.
• Translate design to ground by marking out the site as required.
• Supervise day-to-day on-site construction activities and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects and engineers for integrated earthworks.
• Ensure high-quality earthworks and compliance with project quality requirements.
• Implement and monitor health and safety measures on site.
• Address technical or logistical problems to keep the project on track.
• Keep detailed records, progress reports and changes to the plan.
• Monitor earthworks costs to stay within budget.
• Ensure environmental compliance including erosion controls.
• Maintain stakeholder communication about status and impact.
