Job description

Ready to build your engineering career on one of Queensland's landmark rail programs?

DT Infrastructure is seeking a Site Engineer – Civil to join the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) at Ormeau.

Working closely with the Project Engineer and broader construction team, you'll help plan, coordinate and monitor civil construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.

This is a hands‑on project role where you'll gain exposure well beyond technical engineering. You'll support civil work packages, interpret drawings and specifications, monitor site progress, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, and contribute to commercial, quality and project controls. You'll also work alongside supervisors and experienced engineers to solve construction challenges and keep delivery moving on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate civil construction activities and assigned work areas in line with programme, safety, quality and project requirements
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation while supporting methodologies, work plans and technical problem-solving
  • Monitor construction progress, productivity and resource utilisation, maintaining accurate site records and project reporting
  • Support procurement, quantities, cost tracking and the administration of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Assist with quality assurance activities including ITPs, RFIs, lot management, inspections, defects and non-conformance processes
  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, contractors and stakeholders to resolve site issues and achieve successful project outcomes
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification, with eligibility for Engineers Australia membership
  • Typically 2+ years' experience within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience supporting or managing engineering scopes or construction work packages
  • Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts and project controls, with good commercial awareness
  • Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A proactive, accountable and collaborative approach with the confidence to work both independently and as part of a project team
