Job summary

Forestry Corporation of NSW in Bombala invites applications for a Silviculture Operator (Forester) to join the team on a full-time basis. You will lead forest operations under approved plans, safely operate a range of equipment and help maintain environmental standards.

The role requires 2+ years in a similar position, a forestry qualification, and a driver’s licence. The package includes a base salary of 68,000–80,000 AUD plus superannuation, with access to benefits and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Over two years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong organisational, problem solving and planning skills.
• Demonstrated experience working safely in high-risk operational environments.
• Sound knowledge of forestry management and protection, including silviculture.
• Ability to interpret and apply operational plans and guidelines.
• Willingness to travel, work extended hours and operate in difficult terrain.
• Current driver licence and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake forest and silviculture operations in line with plans and budgets.
• Safely operate and maintain plant, vehicles and equipment.
• Monitor safety, environmental and operational compliance.
• Supervise staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure safe, efficient work.
• Plan and implement regional forest health programs including biosecurity and water quality monitoring.
• Participate in fire preparedness and firefighting operations as needed.
