Job summary

Thiess is seeking an experienced Shotfirer to join the Drill & Blast Crew at the Olive Downs Complex in the Bowen Basin, 40 km SE of Moranbah. The role involves blasting operations, magazine control, and safety leadership on a 7/7 day shift with night shifts paid at the applicable rate.

You'll contribute to safe explosive practices, mentor crew members, and maintain compliance with regulations while working with a dynamic mining team in a modern, autonomous mine context.

Qualifications

• Valid QLD Shotfirer Licence and Drivers’ Licence.
• Current Standard 11.
• Experience using electronic initiation systems.
• Demonstrated compliance with safety and explosives regulations.
• Operational experience with Mobile Processing Units is preferred.
• Ability to operate a loader, bobcat and stemming truck is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Magazine management and on-site transport of explosives.
• Loading, tying, and firing blasts according to designs.
• Daily reconciliation and reporting of explosives usage.
• Assist with training and mentoring of blast crew members.
• Identify, communicate and manage hazards within the work area.
